The earliest known use of the name has been traced back to the year 1395 in the Canton (County) of Aargau Swizerland. Routschmann Joho born ca 1395 is recorded to have been a citizen of Baden district until ca 1434”

Kind of Yuengling. Very Germanic in origin.
