Mangled up in that nonsense was something that might have been a point: that despite progress in race relations that have gotten the country to the point where a black president is possible, the African-American family has collapsed. Fair enough. The problem — apart from the bizarre and offensive “it’s worse than slavery” phrasing is that they blame this on gays, abortion, liberals, the teaching of evolution, repeal of DOMA, AGW conspiracy theories or whatever. In fact, one of the biggest things destroying black families today is a policy they support whole-heartedly — the War on Drugs and the subsequent hundreds of thousands of non-violent non-dangerous African-American men serving huge pointless prison sentences.

I’m just intrigued at the number of things they think are worse than slavery. (Single parents, abortion…)

Not a lot is worse than slavery.
