Sorry DF but they are at least the same, if not worse, as their companions from the deep south. Not to mention knowing that there are even worse PD’s down there according to the people I know in greater STL.

The police remain the problem in America’s cities and the increasing militarization of the police has caused nothing but evil. There needs to be a mechanism where out of control PD’s can be federalized and every current member fired, instantly, to be replaced over time with properly selected, psychologically tested & fully trained individuals with no access to a SWAT team. No suburban PD needs an MRAP. No officer should have an AR in his vehicle. None.

Mexico has mechanisms by which the Federales can take over if a police department is too corrupt or too ineffective. But they don’t fire everyone; Instead they evaluate the local cops to see who among them is actually fit to do the job. That’s more of a wise policy, IMO: Firing people for evils they may not have aided leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The other problem is that there is no ready-to-use federal police force.
