Netflix has an excellent documentary “The First World War from Above,” that incorporates some very interesting footage shot in 1919 by a French dirigible pilot of the battlefields. You might also Google “Verdun missing villages.” Nine villages were completely obliterated, 300,000 French and German soldiers lost their lives in an area of 50 square miles. It is estimated that, at some places on the Verdun ridge, 10 artillery shells landed on every square centimeter of ground.
