Fair points but wasn’t Bay of Pigs pretty much put in JFK’s hands not long after he became President? But I agree with you about the Kennedy administration as a whole. I do think he had the potential to be great but I think a lot of what he gets credit for are things LBJ did.

JFK got tagged with the Bay of Pigs (set up by the CIA under Ike) just like Clinton got blamed for Waco (set up by the ATF under Bush 41). Both occurred just after they came into office (Cuba by 90 days, and the machinery was in motion, Waco by just weeks after Clinton was inaugurated and- did you know this?- the acting Attorney General was Stuart Gerson, who was a holdover from the Bush Administration. Janet Reno was NOT the AG when Waco was initiated.)
