A former American girlfriend of mine divorced a gypsy man she met in Texas. We have gypsies here, but they’re not a prominent as in Europe. According to her, the gypsies do operate as a tribe, nomadic, living together, and traveling in groups. They do have certain skills, doing repairs on household items, automobiles, and tinkering. She said that the stereotype that they are thieves is true. She was blonde-haired and blue-eyed. Gypsies are dark-complected, with black or brown eyes. Her husband regularly beat her. The marriage ended when her mother-in-law essentially forced her out of the tribe, and her husband did nothing to protect her from his mother.
