On gay marriage? That would be like the Japanese gloating about sinking the USS Princeton at Leyte Gulf. They lost the battle terribly, and they were doomed to lose the war terribly, but hey, at least they got a temporary moral victory out of it!

And yes, I think opponents of SSM have about as much chance of winning in this country as Japan had of defeating the US in October, 1944.

Upding for the Battle of Leyte Gulf reference. I would reply however, that the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) did ultimately have a chance to do severe damage to the Leyte landing force, but failed to do so because Admiral Kurita lost his nerve.
