re: #227 Dangerman
with the necessity of work-from-home, it’s become apparent that it is not simply sitting people in a different chair. a whole lot of incidental and semi-hidden costs have fallen on workers that used to be paid by their employers
dedicated space to work, electric, heat/ac, supplies, computers and adequate broadband, telephones and on and on
meanwhile a lot of those costs have gone down at the office. sure rent is stuck for now, and some electric, though i’d guess less. but supplies, phone, and a host of other things have dropped to near zero for those at home employees. (eta - i.e. that those companies used to pay for when people came to ‘the office’)
i cant say how many employers have seen this and picked up the ball by either increasing salaries or reimbursing those expenses.
I’m gonna go with “not many”. Most companies love offloading expenses to employees when they can. ‘Murica.
