But my guess is that back then, they didn’t get ALL their news from one source. Newspapers were much more a part of the daily media diet than they are now. Also, I don’t think the bias was nearly as pronounced during the Golden Age of TV journalism as it is now.
They “got” all their TV news fromk one source. People were very loyal to “their” anchor
As far as newspapers back then you are somewhat correct. Most large cities had at least 2 dailies. Thats gone for the most part now. Also, we have the full resources of the internet whereas back then if you lived in Boston and wanted to see the New York SUNDAY Times you would have to wait till Wednesday to buy a copy (aside from driving to and from NY on that Sunday)
