A very sad childhood, but she didn’t seem to do much to help herself later, either, and it sounds as though she had plenty of opportunities to get psychiatric help to get past it. I mean, I just don’t buy that “my troubled childhood led me on a path to violent jihad” bullshit she tries to peddle. She was willing to kill someone to find some satisfaction in her empty life and, in fact, seemed to go out of her way to pursue her new-found ideology.
