whoever was president was gonna face a tanked economy, unemployment, and certain aspects of ‘botched’ responses to parts of the crisis. it is big, complex, and mostly, wholly new.

It’s impossible to know how this would have played out with a competent President. Given the disease is airborne and 80% of cases are mild, it may indeed have spread worldwide despite the best interventions. But the email lady would have had the benefit of the pandemic response team and the embedded expert at the Chinese CDC facility. This disease may have been stopped the same way as SARS, with serious and competent leadership. There is no way to know — but we are living in the worst of possible presidencies in facing this crisis.

Of course, Trump may be getting his advice from his BFF Putin and this is all a ploy to destroy our country.
