Before I go, let me point out this book, written by a man who was in prison at Angola prison in Louisiana from 1961 through 2005.

The man committed the crime he was convicted of, that’s not disputed. His death sentence as commuted to a life sentence at some point.

He was in the news locally for many years, so I watched this story play out in real time. It’s a fascinating story. I haven’t yet read the book, but I’m going to. If you’re interested in culture, culture change, prisons and prisoners and their issues, and the potential people have to become a productive member of society, this book will be a good read.
