You don’t seem to have understood what I said. I’m making two points:
1. If we allow companies to pay workers a wage that, even if they work full time, puts them below the poverty level, the government is going to have to give a lot of help to those people. This will— actually, I should say ‘does’, since this is already the case— require lots of ‘entitlement’ programs and quite a bit of taxation to pay for it.
2. The skill of a worker and his profitability to the company is not directly related. An unskilled worker might get $7 an hour but make $40 an hour for his company; a skilled worker might make $20 an hour and make $40 an hour for the company.
