It makes kimchee smell like freshly laundered clothes that have been air-dried on a lovely early summer afternoon.

More accurately, it smells like the septic tank backed up and flooded your bathroom. The stench is epic - how anyone can eat is beyond me, and I’m part Swedish.

So it’s something bad enough that you’d eat durian afterwards in order to get a different taste in your mouth?
