As I’ve heard it, the next closest mosque is at a four block distance from the WTC site.
And yes, the Pentagon facility is shared between Muslims and other religions. As such, it can’t count as a “mosque” because the definition of that involves being exclusively used for prayer.
As an aside, the prayer room in the Park51 facility is called a mosque by them, so we can’t really say it’s not one when they’re calling it one.
I would assume that a prayer room in an Islamic center would be solely a mosque.
Of course, you know what happens when you assume…
