We forget that Fox and EIB are business propositions: they sell advertising time. To do so, they need to appeal to a target audience, which they win over by feeding them the sort of ideology they want to hear.

This tends to support the GOP cause in the short run, and in local elections, but has damaged them massively on a national level.
