Happens occasionally, but this is probably going to clear out quicker than yesterday’s mess at the GWB. There, it was a tractor trailer with a major fuel spill caused by one of the finger joints on the bridge being messed up. That led to a shutdown of the lower deck to clear the spilled fuel. Minutes after that initial incident, there was a multicar accident in the other direction. All told it took several hours for traffic to ease to normal conditions in both directions, but it was a disaster for the evening commute between NY and NJ since traffic tried to circumvent to the Lincoln or Holland tunnel, and there were accidents on approaches to both, leading to even more delays.

Glad I took mass transit home (and that was thankfully normal).
