I’ll skip on the linking it back to Greenwald specifically because footnoting comments is a lotta work, and I don’t see anyone else here at that level. I think it’s undeniable that Snowden’s disclosures have fueled an important and much needed examination of the topic.

Further, by admission of Clapper and Alexander, the NSA has repeatedly exceeding specified mission boundaries, (which could be called a mandate and the NSA probably has more than one) as well as US law. You can’t call data collection accidental when you have a plan for storing the data.

Also, it’s a pretty good indicator when the fellow who wrote the FISA law has said that the NSA violated what he considered to be the boundaries set in the FISA law to limit the scope of such surveillance.

As for crickets, they often have better things to do than checking how firmly you’ve knotted your blindfold.
