Oh yeah, McQueen too. Thanks for the reminder. Another lesser known actor racer type was Dan Blocker…Hoss from Bonaza.

But I wouldn’t go so far as to call McQueen more prolific than Paul Newman. McQueen was a decent driver. Many real racers that drove against Paul Newman will tell you if Newman had dedicated himself to driving race cars full time from a young age, he could have been a champion in the pro ranks. He did have several SCCA armature titles to his name. He was racing and winning in GT cars all the way up to age 70. And to IndyCar racers on the CART side of things…Newman was a God!

Garner didn’t drive so much as have cars entered in racing.

Edit: Newman-Haas Racing won many an Indycar title with Mario and Michael Andretti, Nigel Mansell and Christiano DeMatta.
