Nobody is saying the GOP is marching off of a cliff, never to be heard of again. What is being said is that the GOP is turning off younger voters and non-white voters more and more, and that as we move forward in time those demographics will become more and more important.

It’s not that the GOP is going to disappear forever. It’s that the more and more extreme they get, they run the very real risk of becoming irrelevant nationally. The more that demographics change, the more that their appeals to the Angry White Guy fail.
