The Republicans may succeed in scuttling this deal—for us. Germany, Britain, France, Russia, and China are enough to make the easing of sanctions worth it for the Iranians—all our sitting it out would do is rob us of any advantage.

Well, the fortunate thing for us is that the Republicans don’t have to succeed in killing a bill to approve the deal, but instead have to get veto-proof majorities in both houses to support a bill rejecting the deal. So all the President has to do is keep enough Democrats on his side to deny Republicans those majorities.
