Off topic, but…
TIL: The background to why I was raised not to withhold help when it is in my power to act. Finnish Criminal Code, 21st chapter:
14 § A person who renders another helpless or abandons a helpless person in respect of whom he or she has an obligation of care, and thereby endangers the life or health of said person, shall be sentenced for abandonment to a fine or to imprisonment for at most two years.
15 § A person who knows that another is in mortal danger or serious danger to his or her health, and does not give or procure such assistance that in view of his or her options and the nature of the situation can reasonably be expected, shall be sentenced for neglect of rescue to a fine or to imprisonment for at most six months.

Oh, how timely. Locally. A woman I know, in great distress, tried to kill herself late one night last week by pills. She ended up on her yard, having nearly bit her tongue in two, unconscious and bleeding. Her… man cohabiting, I’ll say, came out the next morning, stepped around her and went to work. Her son found her a few hours later, and she is safely in hospital. Has a long recovery ahead. But there are a number of us in this small community that would like to do something to charge that creature with who just walked away. Not sure if anyone else in the really tiny (<100) town saw her, and did likewise. Disgusting.
