I substitute the whey for some of the water when I make wholewheat bread. It gives it a lovely brown colour. It’s also supposed to help the bread stay fresh longer, but bread never lasts long enough in our house to test whether this is the case.

I usually don’t bake much in August but we have a cold spell coming up in a few days. I might give that a try.
