Though I appreciate your knowledge of the military tactics of the day, I was simply pointing out the human cost. Believe me, I know those things. I’ve read McPhearson, Catton, Foote, a few others. Those generals are held in high regard, their tactics taught at West Point. I’m not saying you’re doing this at all but I think sometimes people forget about the ordinary soldier, the ones that were pulverized on that wall in Fredericksburg, the ones that were systematically cut down marching across a field in Gettysburg. Sometimes people need a kick in the pants and see the sheer numbers. We mustn’t forget the Civil War after all.
