You know, to buy the “impeachment was a distraction” bit, you have to believe that without being impeached Trump would have treated the outbreak as serious sooner and done more to try to keep it out of the US. Except that would fly right in the face of the idea that he did everything “right” and yet the virus still somehow got in the US despite his best efforts. So how are we supposed to accept that he was totally blindsided by this virus and also so prescient that he took all the right moves?

And impeachment was over by February 6. He had briefings before and after that date. From February 6 onwards he had precisely zero excuses.
