As long as the Catholic church maintains it’s patriarchal, backwards, heartless, discriminatory, asshole position on women’s rights to control their own fertility, I will be opposed to it, because it is a force of death to women.

You need to understand that he doesn’t see abortion in terms of control. for him it is about “the right to life from conception until natural death”.

I respectfully ask how you answer that point when it is raised. I am not saying I hold that belief, but most of the pope’s defenders do.
