Likely not just a POC but a drunk ass rich person buying their way out.

I’m leaning toward something like that. Or somebody who’s a “pillar of the community”.
A few years ago, one of our local school teachers ran a stop sign at a highway crossing and killed two people on the motorcycle (both of the deceased were very politically and civically active in a neighboring county). Still, the teacher was never charged with anything.
