Hitting the “X” button does nothing to stop the process. I just go from the “X” to the “O” button being available. The Command+period has no effect either.

I used to have a Firefox plugin that allowed me to control which sites loaded when I opened a webpage. For example, when I load LGF, it links to Facebook, Twitter, Google and YouTube as the page loads. On my old computer and using FF, the page would just hang indefinitely, because China blocks all those services. The plugin, whose name I’ve forgotten, allowed me to “turn off” linking to those sites, and the page would load a lot more quickly.

Now, I don’t have that problem. New computer, Opera, and a faster network connection means I seldom have slow page loads like before.
