And from the beginning he was, surprisingly, ahead, and the other candidates were basically on the defensive, ironically, because there was pressure for them to do or say something to dislodge Trump from his position. And none of the clownshow was up to the task. And of course it turned out that, in addition to not giving a shit about policy, the GOP base was willing to accept a talking yam as a candidate.
