I actually had that problem with my Kimber M1911 about 20 years ago.

In my case, some genius had changed the extractor style on that model from the tried and true 100 year old design. The new extractor design did not always get a good grip on the rim of the fired cartridge. Which meant the old round would not fully extract. Which meant that the new round would not load and the pistol was “jammed”.

I ended up corresponding with Kimber and they traded my Kimber for one with the good extractor. The new one did work predictably.

Did you ever hunt deer with it?
