There’s a lot of bullshit and wishful thinking in the audiophile arena.

HOWEVER, I can tell you from my own experience, it’s not COMPLETELY bullshit. Before I got married, I spent some time and money (both of which I had then) and put together a nice system. I was still putting the finishing touches on it when we married.

About a year after we moved in together, I swapped out my old heavy-gauge, standard Monster speaker cables for a higher, more expensive grade. My wife came home after I had done the swap. As she got to the top of the steps (we lived in a top floor flat in SF), she paused and said, “What did you do to the stereo? It sounds better!”
