Nate saying Obama likely to announce Srinivasan or Garland for the vacancy, I like Srinivasan for the vacancy better. Younger and I really think the court benefits from more diversity so an Indian-American Hindu such as Judge Srinivasan would be a welcome addition. Judge Garland did clerk for one of my favorites, Justice Brennan but I’d prefer someone younger. Both are decent choices and capable enough for the job and I have no doubt will be smeared to be left of Stalin by the GOP and right wing blogsphere.

Without knowing a lot about either of them, I’m leaning towards Srinivasan, too. I think all other factors being equal we need to come down on the side of diversity which Srinivasan provides in terms of race, religion and education. Stanford isn’t exactly State U. or whatever, but at least it isn’t Harvard or Yale.
I’m sure all the “powers that be” will be very interested in my opinion. ;-)
