Likely dementia, too. People who suffer dementia prefer what’s familiar to them. Changes of any kind, especially as the disease progresses, are not tolerated well. At all.

I, unfortunately, speak from experience.

I certainly have been one who thought that Trump suffers from some form of dementia but after Comey’s testimony, I am not sure that diagnosis seems so clear cut. Trump had repeatedly said that Comey told him 3 times that he wasn’t under investigation, and Comey actually confirmed that aspect. Of course, its meaning was different from Trump’s understanding. But if he truly had dementia, would he be able to keep track of this? Trump’s private behavior with Comey seems more malign and deliberate than you would expect from someone with dementia.

Trump wants to control every situation and benefit financially from every activity. That’s enough to explain his interest in golfing only at his courses. One SC ruling that might lead to his resignation is if the SC rules that he is violating the emoluments clause — that may be sufficient for him to decide that it is not worth his while to continue as President since it would affect his bottom line.
