Yep it’s the same thing. I was really bummed that my brother was too exhausted in Germany to visit a concentration camp site but he did have a moment where he witnessed casual racism towards the Romani that I think he’s thought about and maybe made him a little more aware of prejudice.
Would visiting a US internment camp from WW2 like Manzanar have a greater effect?
With a German one it can sort of be written off that it was the Nazis doing it. With a US one it hits a bit closer to home though I’m sure some would manage to solely blame it on the Democrats, FDR, or the Japanese themselves.
