re: #170 cliffster

I was fired up against this bill when it first came out. I was listening to the hype, silly me. The left spin machine wants everyone to believe it’s the coming of nazism. From what I can see, all it does is say that if someone commits a crime, they can be questioned about their citizenship. Just as if there was reason to believe they had drugs. Oh, the horror. I can almost hear the stormtroopers marching.

A question, then. In this article, two illegal immigrants who have recently been deported say that they were picked up by the cops, one for jaywalking and traffic tickets, and the other for a driving violation, and they were turned over to ICE once their illegal status was noted.

This happened before the law in question, one of them was last year. So what you describe as ‘all it does’ was something that was already happening under the law. What’s changed, and how will it improve the immigration situation in AZ?

Also, please note the phenomenon of repeated entries. Just because you toss someone over the border don’t mean they ain’t comin’ back.
