re: #244 sattv4u2
And what an odd way to interpret what I said
I am 5 years from retirement
I get laid off tomorrow
Why would someone hire me KNOWING that AT MOST I’m giving them 5 years
Satt - any employer should know that an older employee is going to USUALLY be more dependable than younger employees. There are plenty of reasons why employers look for older employees rather than younger ones. Where I worked, we had a certain set of jobs where we knew, right off the bat, that if the person we found was older, they would stay at the job and be more dependable than a younger person. I’m not saying we did any reverse age-discrimination, we didn’t. But we actively recruited at places like Displaced Homemakers (usually older, recently divorced ladies).
