LePage’s latest example of Republican heartlessness is evil, but also interesting when contrasted with Trump, whom he vocally supports. Trump has clearly abandoned the “hard-work, bootstrap” type rhetoric that the Republican party has run on for so long. Apparently white people who are “angry about the economy” are exempt from the bootstrap lecture, unlike the poor, working-class minorities who were, and still are in many ways, systematically excluded from large sectors of the economy.

Funny how quickly government stops being The Problem once a white nationalist is calling the shots.

No kidding. I see the condescending crap directed at black minorities on welfare who are told to “stop having babies” but never a word for poor whites who also receive public assistance. Let’s be honets though. The bootstrap rhetoric always was crap.
