Trial by jury and the presumption of innocence are the bedrock of our justice system, what SEPARATES US from medieval times. Look for Trump to advocate Trial By Combat any day now.

I’ve joked before, but I’m fairly certain I’d be a better lawyer if we had trial by combat.

In all seriousness, though, this is what Bush’s war on terror brought us… the idea that we don’t need due process of law for terrorists because reasons. A society’s values aren’t tested in times of peace and prosperity, they are tested in times of crisis and panic, and we have a large percentage of people who are actively rooting against our values.
