Sometimes the Death Penalty is the only thing remotely akin to justice. An eye for an eye, a life for a life. It makes sense to me.

I don’t know. In this case, we’ve got a guy in his late 30’s, who murdered his kid, and made that child’s life a misery for weeks beforehand.

That guy has had so many years that the child didn’t get to have. He stole those years.

In a way, I’d rather this guy stay alive, in very unhappy conditions, for a long time. Because death alone lets him off too easy.
And people who kill kids, especially their own, aren’t too well liked in prison. No-one there will buy the “it was an accident” bullshit, given that it’d apparently been going on for weeks.
