And, to Sullivan’s credit, he copped to his mistakes in the early 2000’s, namely his early rabid support for the Iraq War. He now admits that the war was an ill-advised piece of adventurous nation building, and has apologized profusely over the years for his role in supporting it.

Unlike Cheney, Rumsfeld, Kristol, et al, who stubbornly hold on to the idea that the invasion will turn into a great success and history will vindicate them all. It’s actually kind of pathetic seeing old men like these three so in denial that they can’t even admit they made mistakes in Iraq. Just shows what a bitch reality can be when it bites you in the ass.

Ten years ago, along with the rest of us, these neocons were laughing at Baghdad Bob; now they’ve turned into Baghdad Bobs, telling us everything will be fine in Iraq while the country continues to burn in the background.

The problem is that having admitted being wrong, and even going so far as to doing the self-examination necessary to know what his mistakes were, he then repeats them. And eventually acknowledges and apologizes, and repeats the cycle yet again.

Whether he’s being weak or coy, he gets no more consideration from me.
