Putting the USA back on the gold standard would essentially kill the USA as an economic power in the world. China would take the number one place, with the EU and the Asian Tigers bringing up the rear.

Gold bugs live in a fantasy world. There is no way the financiers and multinationals would agree to a gold standard. It would hamstring their wheeling and dealing.

The wheelers and dealers were able to deal with the original gold standard- this is when the Rockefellers, J.P. Morgan, etc. became billionaires. Their heirs would agree to such a system after making sure their interests were protected, no matter what happened to the USA’s 320 million peons.
