A lot of people conflate giving from employees in an industry with the industry itself. And they get annoyed when you point that out.

There’s some murkiness involved, here; of course, a lot of employees will be sympathetic to kindlier treatment to the industry, and the managers on up will have views aligned with the industry.

But it’s overly simplistic to conflate everything (I know a lot of higher ups at banks who are quite liberal in their politics, giving to progressive causes and not just politicians).
