The same companies that have had issues with inadequately vetting security clearances face a backlog and are still allowing people who shouldn’t be anywhere near classified info to get temporary clearances.
That’s a separate question from the need/reason to have so much classified info, especially when that info is often mischaracterized or misclassified as sensitive for no good reason.
The entire process is screwed up, and we’ve got prime examples among the WH officials themselves - who shouldn’t have been granted clearance or should have their clearance revoked for lying (Kushner, yeah, we’re looking at you kid).
