re: #76 Quoth the raven, Covfefe.

I used to be driven to respond to emails instantaneously, in the name of “being a good consultant/employee” and trying to provide good customer service. After an incident which ended in a work-related phone call as Mrs. Fish and I were supposed to be getting dressed up to go out for our wedding anniversary on a Saturday night, I started modifying that expectation. Nowadays, I’m perfectly comfortable with leaving emails for the next morning - if you can’t get it to me by the time I leave the office, it’s clearly not important. Work stops when I climb into my car.

It depends a lot on the sender. Some senders are very conscious, and only email/call on emergencies. Others … there’s a reason I am now picky about who I give my phone.
