McQueen wanted to do a movie about F1…but he never drove F1. Of course Jimmy Garner was the American Driver in the great ol’ 60s movie Grand Prix.

He was the gentlemen driver (not a bad thing) with Peter Revson the fast guy (the racer who did drive and lost his life in an F1 car) at the 12 hours of Sebring (Fla) against Mario…not LeMans. You may be getting his part on the movie LeMans mixed in…a movie he was instrumental in getting made.

I love ‘em all, of course. And I’m loving the German GP right now. Lots of dicing going on in this one.
