re: #156 Iron Fist

And they have killed whom, again?

They are the spiritual descendents of an obscurantism which has killed many millions; and where there is a shortage of scientists, they delay progress which kills millions more by the year.

So far, as far as I know, they have done everything in accordance with law and democracy. You may not agree with their position, you may even consider it laughable. You may think that they are lying (YEC says the world is only 6000 years old. This can’t be backed up by any facts).

What they aren’t doing is waging a religious war.

Wrong. They are using unethical tactics to browbeat their opponents. Misdirection and propaganda are tactics of warfare.

What are you suggesting, exactly? That their viewpoint should be made illegal? That they don’t have the right to try and influence their fellow citizens through political discourse? Through winning votes (or losing them)?

They have every right, but their votes shouldn’t count.

I’ve argued that decisions about science should be taken away from voters, and assigned to a separate branch of the state which is selected by their peers instead - the judicial branch. So IDers could say what they want; but what they say should have no influence on research, textbooks, or educational standards.
