If it turns out that the work they did contributed to the accident and/or subsequent spill, watch for lawsuits to fly between Transocean, BP, and Halliburton over cleanup costs. BP might front the costs now, but sue the others to recover their costs. It’s in BP’s interest from a PR standpoint to get on top of the cleanup costs and make every effort to mitigate the spill, but then go after Halliburton over any potential failure on their part.
