Mostly true in terms of taxation, trickle down theory, gaming the Laffer Curve and suchlike. I was imagining a version of conservatism that might drastically reduce military spending, means tested Social Security, eliminate oil exploration subsidies and the second home mortgage deduction. In other words an imaginary version that actually focused on eliminating waste instead of just pretending to.

I’d like to see a brand of Economic Conservatism that looks at interest rates this low, looks at failing infrastructure, and says, “Holy shit! People are PAYING US to lend us money! Let’s fix this dump!”

A rusty, crumbling bridge too far, I suppose.
