re: #220 Dr Lizardo

I’m sticking with my theory that the Trump Organization has been willingly and knowingly laundering Russian Mafia/Russian Oligarch money for the past several years.

That’s the “derogatory information” the Russians have on him. And yes, it would be serious. It’s a felony. As per Wikipedia regarding the 2002 Prevention of Money Laundering Act, “The act prescribes that any person found guilty of money-laundering shall be punishable with rigorous imprisonment from three years to seven years and where the proceeds of crime involved relate to any offence under paragraph 2 of Part A of the Schedule (Offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act, 1985), the maximum punishment may extend to 10 years instead of 7 years.”

At the very least, three years in prison would be no walk in the park, that’s for damn sure.

Yeah, well, here’s the thing: one of the few things Donald Trump is very good at (or very good at hiring people who are very good at) is the construction of complex and opaque financial structures to:

1. Maximize his personal and/or companies’ profits
2. Minimize, shield, or deflect losses to other entities to the maximum extent possible
3. Obscure both the sources and destinations of funding to the maximum legal extent possible.
4. Ensure major legal representation to avoid any repercussions from points 1-3.

That the Trump Organization (and The Donald personally) is lousy with shady Russian money has been an ill-kept secret for years: it’s just that the “willingly and knowingly” part is going to be extraordinarily hard to prove (as in Federal Court). See Point 4 above…
