And then, as the cherry on top, the White House might remind folks that the Republicans insisted upon and passed the Secure Fence Act in 2006, mandating 700 miles of new fencing be built on the border…and then appropriated 1/4 of what it would actually cost to build and have not made any efforts since taking the majority to see the other 3/4 appropriated. So any talk about more fencing or even a wall that does not include a promise to fund it, even if doing so requires deficit spending, will not be entertained as a serious proposal.
